We and/or our content and technology providers (licensors) own all the intellectual property rights

This Intellectual Property Rights Policy (the “Policy”) sets out the ownership, permitted use, and restrictions regarding the intellectual property displayed on this website. All rights relating to this website, accessible at https://www.lpplaw.my (the “Platform”), including but not limited to the content published on this Platform (all texts, graphics, images, computer codes, software, and design elements), and all associated intellectual property rights including copyrights, design rights, patents, inventions, know-how, database rights, trademarks, source codes and any other intellectual property rights (collectively, “IP Rights”), belong to Edwin Lee & Partners (hereinafter referred to as “ELP Lawyers”, “we”, “us” or “our”, as the case may be) and/or our content and technology providers (collectively, “Licensors”).

Where third-party content is used on this Platform, we confirm that such content has been incorporated with the necessary authorisations, including obtaining the relevant consents or licenses from the rightful owners. While we take reasonable steps to ensure proper authorisation, we do not independently verify ownership of all third-party content. We and/or our industry partners and/or clients own the trademarks

All trademarks, trade names, service marks and logos (collectively, “Trademarks”) displayed on this Platform are proprietary to their respective owners and protected by applicable trademark laws, copyright laws, and other relevant intellectual property laws. Some of these Trademarks may be registered or unregistered marks of ELP Lawyers and/or our industry partners and/or our clients. We ensure that we have obtained the prior consent of our industry partners and clients before we using their Trademarks on this Platform. We allow you limited use of the content displayed on this Platform

Subject to the terms of this Policy, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the content on this Platform.

You are allowed to:

  • download and print out any part of this Platform for your own personal, non-commercial use, provided that:
  1. the source is clearly acknowledged;
  2. no modifications or alterations are made to the content; and
  3. this permission does not extend to any third party material included on this Platform;
  • link or refer to this Platform, provided that ELP Lawyers’ Trademark or name remains clearly visible and unaltered.

You are not allowed to:

We Prohibit Unauthorised Use and Imitation

No part of this Platform, including but not limited to its design, layout, branding, legal content, or user interface, may be copied, reproduced, mirrored, or otherwise imitated, whether in full or in part, for commercial use by any third party, without our prior written consent.

Our Rights to Protect Intellectual Property

We actively monitor and enforce our intellectual property rights and reserve the right to take legal action against any party that engages in unauthorised use, reproduction, or imitation of our content, branding, or design. This includes, but is not limited to, issuing takedown notices, sending legal demands, and pursuing claims for damages or other legal remedies as permitted by law.

We May Amend and Modify This Policy

We reserve the right to update or modify this Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective upon posting the updated version on this Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after such updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.

We Adhere to Malaysian Law and Jurisdiction

This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

Responsibilities of Executor:

  • Apply for and extract the grant of probate.
  • Make arrangements for the funeral of the deceased.
  • Collect and make an accurate inventory of the deceased’s assets.
  • Settling the debts and obligations of the deceased.
  • Distributing the assets.

Note for Digital Executor:
If you wish to leave your digital assets to certain people in your Will, there are important steps that need to be taken to ensure that your wishes can be carried out:

  • Keep a note of specific instructions on how to access your username and password of your digital asset.
  • You are advised to store these private and confidential information in a USB stick, password management tool or write them down.
  • Please inform your executor or a trusted person of the whereabouts of the tools so that they will have access to your digital asset.
