Real Files, Proper Supervision: Internship at ELP
Edwin Lee & Partners is looking for a final year law student or CLP graduate to join us for one to three months in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. If it works well on both sides, there is a route into chambering here.

About us
We are a corporate, commercial and compliance-focused law firm in Kuala Lumpur. We act for public listed companies, multinationals and growing private companies on commercial contracts, corporate M&A and equity fundraising, employment documentation, corporate governance, and data protection, including acting as outsourced Data Protection Officer under the PDPA. We believe innovation and creativity can also live in the legal profession.
Who we are looking for
- CLP completed or in progress, or a final year law student.
- Strong written English. Mandarin is a real advantage, as a good part of our client base works bilingually.
- Able to use AI tools without outsourcing your judgment to them.

What you will actually do
- Sit in on client meetings, then help turn the discussion into a first draft.
- Research that goes into advice we actually send to clients.
- Work directly alongside our senior associate and the partner on live matters.
- Watch a file move from first enquiry through engagement letter to completion.
- Use AI tools on real work, and tell us where they are right and where they are wrong.
That last one is not a throwaway line. The lawyers who will do well over the next decade are the ones who can take what a machine produces and see what is missing from it. That skill is the whole game, and we would rather train it in you early than watch you pick up the habit of trusting output you have not checked.
Being straight with you
The work is demanding and the deadlines are real. In return you get proper supervision, honest feedback on your drafting, and credit for what you contribute.
We cannot promise chambering to every intern. We can say we have taken that step with the right person before, and we would like to do it again.
